Beckett’s Recovery, Phase 2: Still Waiting on Answers

Back: accounts, submissions, pop reports, cert lookup. Not back: price guide, Marketplace.

On 2 October, Beckett said it had detected “suspicious technical activity,” taken its platforms offline and brought in outside security experts for a forensic investigation. By then, beckett.com had been a holding page since 9 September, a gap of roughly three weeks between the outage and the first explanation.

Beckett says its investigation “has not identified any evidence that sensitive customer information was impacted.” That is a narrow statement. It doesn’t say no data was accessed, and it doesn’t say the investigation is complete. Until Beckett states what was accessed, how, and when, collectors are left to draw their own conclusions.

What the recovery looks like

Phase 1 restored accounts, submissions, pop reports and cert lookup. The price guide and Marketplace are still down, and both redirect to Beckett’s Tech Updates page, as do many other links on the rebuilt site. Leaving dead links in place after a relaunch is a sign the recovery is still being completed in public, and it leaves users guessing which features work. The rebuilt site also appears to run on several separate platforms rather than one.

Our assessment

This is inference, not confirmed fact: the evidence points to a security incident that Beckett has not fully characterized, and a formal breach notification would not surprise us. It would also not be Beckett’s first.

Check whether you were affected in Beckett’s last breach

In November 2025, Beckett Collectibles suffered a data breach. Have I Been Pwned lists it as verified: more than one million email addresses, with names, usernames, phone numbers and physical addresses. We found no public statement from Beckett about it.

Check your email at haveibeenpwned.com. If you appear, treat any email or text claiming to be from Beckett with suspicion and go to beckett.com directly rather than through a link. As a precaution, change your Beckett password, and change it anywhere else you’ve reused it.

What we don’t know

  • Whether customer data was accessed in the September–October incident
  • Whether the cause was ransomware, intrusion or something else
  • When the price guide and Marketplace will return
