Beckett expects to reopen Base and Standard on 15 September

The number that moves is the entry price, and it moves a long way. Through the pause the cheapest route into a BGS slab has been Express at $79.95. Base is $14.95, or $17.95 with subgrades. That is a factor of more than five, and for anyone holding a stack of cards worth $30 to $100 each it is the difference between grading being worth doing and not.

Treat the date as a forecast rather than a commitment. The page carrying it was last updated on 5 August and says in terms that the timing is based on current operational progress and will be revised on that page if it changes. Five weeks is a long time to leave an estimate standing without restating it, and as of 9 September the pricing page still shows both tiers sold out with a waitlist button. That is consistent with a reopening on the 15th, and it is also consistent with nothing having happened yet.

Read "begin reopening" literally. Beckett says availability will be managed on an ongoing basis to align incoming volume with capacity — which is not a tier going back on the shelf, it is a tap that gets opened and closed. TAG runs randomised drops, PSA is sequencing Standard behind existing Value and Bulk work, and Beckett is describing the same thing in gentler language. Plan for a window that may close rather than a price you can submit against whenever you like.

The timing across the majors is worth noticing on its own. PSA opens a $59.99 tier on 14 September and Beckett expects to reopen a $14.95 one on the 15th. The cheap end of the market, closed for most of the summer, is reportedly coming back inside the same 48 hours — and both companies have attached explicit capacity conditions to it. Submitters who have been waiting since June are all watching the same two dates, which is exactly the demand spike that caused the pauses.

The nearer opportunity is physical, not online. Beckett lists limited Base and Standard drop-off at the Dallas Card Show from 10 to 13 September, subject to capacity and ahead of any online reopening. If you are within reach of it and the maths only works at $14.95, that is the route that exists this week.
