eBay UK will send cards from £250 to PSA for checks, down from £500

More UK card sales now pass through PSA. Only PSA, SGC, CGC, CSG and BGS slabs are on eBay's list.

Cardboard Journal · Our analysis

eBay's UK seller news for October 2026 says its Authenticity Guarantee for Trading Cards "is expanding to cover trading cards valued at £250+." Value Added Resource reported the change on 6 October. eBay's notice gives no effective date.

The programme launched in the UK on 6 May 2026 for cards at £500 and above, according to eBay's press release that day. eBay said then that experts from Professional Sports Authenticator (PSA) inspect each card before it goes to the buyer, at no extra cost to either side.

What the seller page says now

eBay UK's seller page for the programme already shows the new floor: items "listed or sold at £250 or more", before postage. It says PSA "is our official authenticator for both ungraded and graded cards". For a slab, PSA checks that the case and label are authentic to the grader.

The page also says that only cards graded by PSA, SGC, CGC Trading Cards, CSG and Beckett Grading Services (BGS) will be accepted. It does not say what happens to a card in another company's slab at that price, and the page carries no date, so we could not tell whether that list changed with the threshold.

What it changes for a collector

A UK buyer paying £250 or more for a single card on eBay now gets a PSA inspection in the middle of the sale. A UK seller of a slab from a grader outside that list, TAG included, has no stated route into the programme.

Not yet known: the date the £250 floor takes effect for every listing, and whether eBay plans to add other graders to the UK list.
