PSA backlog falls to 6.8 million, but the Value reopening slowed the drop

Down 400,000 in two weeks, not a million. Reopening Value refilled the queue.

Cardboard Journal · Our analysis

PSA's active grading backlog is 6.8 million units, according to its 3 November tracker update, down from 7.2 million on 20 October.

That is a drop of 400,000 in two weeks. The previous update showed a drop of one million over the same span. PSA gave the reason itself: daily output held steady, but "the backlog reduced more slowly this period due to increased submissions following the opening of Value." Value reopened on 29 October at $39.99.

PSA repeated that every existing order stays ahead of new Value submissions. It said keeping up this pace will put it in a position to "evaluate reopening Value Bulk in the coming months." PSA's stated target for that remains a backlog of 5 million units, 1.8 million below today's figure.

What it means if you submit

  • **Already at PSA:** nothing changes. Your order keeps its place.
  • **New Value order:** it joins the back of a 6.8 million-card queue. PSA's estimate is 90 to 100 business days.
  • **Value Bulk:** still closed, with no date. The next tracker update is due in two weeks.
