Collectors keeps BGS subgrades intact — Black Label holders exhale

This is the rare acquisition story where the interesting outcome is that nothing happened. The fear was structural: subgrades are what a BGS slab is for, and a parent company that also owns PSA had an obvious argument for folding everything into one number.

Keeping the four-attribute scale means the existing population stays legible. A Black Label is only worth what it is because the standard behind it is still being applied — a grade nobody issues any more becomes a curiosity rather than a premium.

Treat this as a floor, not a guarantee. Collectors has kept the system through the first year of ownership, which is the period when consolidation usually happens. That is meaningful evidence, but it is evidence about intent so far, not a commitment about 2027.
