PSA opens Frankfurt to EU submissions on 15 September

For collectors inside the EU this removes a cost that never appeared on the price list. Submitting to PSA has meant international shipping in both directions, customs exposure, and insured transit on the return leg — frequently more than the grading fee on a modest card, and the reason a lot of European submissions went to European graders or did not happen at all.

The detail that matters is the promise of every globally available service level, not a reduced menu. Regional facilities that open with a subset of tiers tend to leave the cheapest ones out, which is where shipping economics bite hardest. If Frankfurt genuinely carries the full ladder, the calculation changes most for exactly the low-value bulk submissions that international freight used to rule out.

Set against the tier news from the same day, though, the ladder EU collectors get access to is the ladder as it stands: Value paused, Standard from 14 September at 90 to 100 business days. Local drop-off does not shorten the queue it feeds into.

Worth watching whether turnaround estimates for Frankfurt track the global ones or drift. A sixth facility adds capacity, but a new site staffed and calibrated from scratch is also where consistency questions usually show up first.
